A very early start for me resulted in an early morning arrival to East Devon in cool conditions…. lovely.
As the weather was predicted to be very hot again, the option was given to start shooting at 8.00am and the East Devon crew had worked like mad things to prepare two courses that had the vast majority of the lanes in wooded areas in order to keep shooters out of the worst of the sun and it was very much appreciated.
Both courses were familiar… but with slight and subtle alterations here and there to keep them new. Even in the seemingly still conditions Course 1 proved to be tricky for many people throughout the day. Course 2 was based on the HFT layout but back to front, in every respect and a couple of additions in the yard at the very bottom of the site. It was a little more straightforward but still had it’s twist and turns.
A really well organised and well run shoot on two really fun courses that could have been a little humdrum, except that they absolutely weren’t, thank you East Devon.
Also massive thanks to Cloe and Jan on stats and to Roz and Ann for providing sustenance all day.
Finally thanks to all the WAFTA shooters who made the journey, including a few who have only just made a much longer journey home from Italy. Good to see you all.
Top score of the day was shot by Numo Jones with an impressive 29 x 30, 29 x 30.
You will be pleased to know that SWEFTA won the SWEFTA vs WAFTA trophy for 2022.
