An excellent end to the season all round.
We arrived at Shebbear to find it cool, misty and absolutely still, not a breath of wind to be felt. Many experienced SWEFTA members were seen to be looking around just to check they were at the right venue… Windy Ridge? With no wind? That’ll do.
Much like the Purbeck round, both courses had had a subtle makeover, possibly more noticeable on the FT than the HFT course but both extremely enjoyable and not without their challenges.
The weather held all day and once the sun came out the chill was lifted on a fine day. A forecast breeze came up during the day making things a little more tricky on the longer targets but all round it was a fantastic end to the season.
Massive thanks to Rob Underwood and his team of helpers for the course and also to the host of ladies manning the kitchen all day with a plentiful supply of bacon rolls, tea, coffee and …. cake.
Well, that’s it for the season, with the Showdown at Ashcombe, Trophy shoot at Phoenix and the AGM all to look forward to.
