An almost windless day at Shebbear was only slightly dampened by a passing shower, but with brolly’s and waterproofs we braved the worst that the weather could throw at us, which was not much.
The FT course was just challenging enough to prevent a clearance, so ‘job done’ to Rich and the team.
After an excellent lunch, thank you ladies, the sun came out and wind came up just a little, but was still considered dead calm by Shebbear standards.
All round, and excellent day.

All things considered: the rescheduling on the shoot; the bank holiday weekend and the not so good weather forecast; there was a good turn out at the Shebbear this weekend with a total of 56 entries and, for the first time, there were more HFT shooters than FT 29:27.
That aside, a good day was had by all with some good scores being recorded and a top FT score of 39 from Steve Franklin taking out 4 of the 5 eliminators, closely followed by Alan Turnham with 37. The OPEN discipline was tied between Tony Fouracres and Graham Murfin also with a score of 39, both of whom killed all 5 eliminators. However Graham took 1st slot as Tony was the first to miss a target. Julian Head managed a respectable score of 30 in Piston class, nice one!
Damian took 1st in HFT PCP with a score of 75, very closely followed by Bill Hartnoll on 74. Mark Donnelley took 3rd from Rob Meatyard on eliminators, both scoring 73. A shout out to Steve Taylor (HFT PCP B grade) for also score his personal best score of 73. Damian dominated HFT Recoiling with a top score of 66, yours truly took 2nd with 60 and James Head 3rd with 59.
Thanks to Rich and his crew for a great day with an ‘interesting’ HFT course, a great food/drinks service and for their hospitality.
