The delayed SOUTH DEVON shoot has been found a new slot and that will be on SEPTEMBER 12th.
posted Thursday 10th June
A reminder for those who missed it on Sunday......
If you want to shoot in the East Devon GP on July 25th you will need to have a BFTA number.
If you don't have one, then please let your club sec know, tell Gus, tell Lloyd, or tell me, and the region will apply for one for you. It costs (I think it's still the same price) £3.50.
You won't get a card straight away as they are only printed in two batches per year and the next one will be done in the autumn. However so long as you have the number, that's all you need to take part.
You have to book in for GPs, you can't just turn up and ask to shoot. This can be done on line at the BFTA website, but not yet as bookings for GP7 haven't started.
Can as many as possible please try to take part. This is a region event not a East Devon event and we all need to support it if we can.

SWEFTA A.G.M.
30th October 2009
The Ashcombe Centre, 8pm.
AGENDA.
1) Apologies for absence.
2) Minutes from last meeting.
3) Matters arising.
4) Officer’s reports.
5) Election of Officers.
6) SWEFTA Shoot Rules.
FT…. Clarification… Some shooters do not appear to be clear about some rules. eg
14B) SHOOTING MORE THAN ONE CLASS.
“Shooters can enter both PCP and Piston classes, but competitors who do so can enter their score for grading and team positions for one class only; this must be nominated on the scorecard, and shot first. The second round score counts for the day only.”
Possible addition. “Where the HFT competition is shot on selected targets which are part of the FT course, competitors who wish to enter both classes must shoot the FT course first.”
HFT… Clarification.
a) When shooting prone, can you rest on a bean-bag?
(UKAHFT rules say, “No.”)
b) Can you use a wide bipod, or sticks, to touch the peg, therefore increasing the distance from the rifle to the peg? (Our Rule 7 says, “Some part of the shooter’s body, or RIFLE must touch the peg.”)
7) Competitions.
a) Competition Calendar
b) Entry grades. At present, shooters new to SWEFTA are placed in A grade for their first 3 shoots. Would it be better to start in C grade?
c) Shooting Season. See Appendix A overleaf
d) Club Championship. See Appendix B, separate document.
8) A.O.B.
APPENDIX A.
Shooting Season.
Has the time come for a change to the timing and/or duration of the SWEFTA League Shoots?
Proposal 1.Carry on as currently, ( Early start in year, finish in October,)Effectively very little Winter shooting but the potential for weather disruption, with a break of several months.
Proposal 2.A shorter season ( Not start until Easter, finish September) Because with had issues in recent years with the weather causing cancellations/ disruption of shoots.
Proposal 3.A much longer season ( throughout the year, with fewer shoots in the Summer, when the calendar is crowded, and more in November, January, February)

SWEFTA Showdown Results
22 shooters turned out for the 2009 Swefta Showdown.
This gave a slightly fragmented grid as 32 places are required for the formula to work.
After the draw was made, at least one shooter got a pass straight through to the third round!
However, shooting started at 09.30 and ran smoothly for the rest of the day.
The weather was kind to us with very little wind, and no rain until after all shooting had finished.
Everyone who turned up had a thoroughly good time, and not a single complaint was raised.
Thanks go to Russ and the crew at Buckley Wood for getting the courses laid out so well, to Neil MacKinnon who was my fellow administrator for the day, and of course a very big thank you to Roz and Anne for feeding all of us so well as usual.

Hi All,
Just to give you the details of the SWEFTA Showdown day at Buckley Wood on the 4th October.
The competitions on the day will be as follows;
The Showdown, limited entry
The Plate, limited entry
35 shot Hunter course, shot to SWEFTA rules, open entry
15 shot Standing course, open entry
As you all know (I hope) the Showdown itself is limited to the 32 qualifiers from the league shoots.
From these 32 shooters only, will be the Showdown and Plate shooters, the plate shooters will be the 16 people that get knocked out in the first round of the showdown.
The plate competition is shot parallel to the Showdown under the same rules.
Don't forget that the Showdown/Plate are timed shoots.
Each lane will have two targets, one minute to shoot both from when you first look through the scope, 20 targets per round.
Shooters knocked out from the 2nd and subsequent rounds are out of the competitions, but of course can enter the other two shoots.
I know that there are some qualifiers that will not be going, so, as Rich said in his results email, let him or Lloyd know if you fancy a go, or just turn up to support the others and enter the two open comps.
There are prizes in all the competitions.
Roz's snack shack will also be making tasty food as usual.
IMPORTANT!
Everyone for the Showdown MUST be booked in by 09.00, when the draw will be made for shooting positions.
Shooters briefing will be at 09.15, shooting will commence prompt at 09.30.
Your assistance in this will be much appreciated as we have 5 rounds of shooting to get through.
Best Regards
Kevin

EGM at East Devon, was held 8th March
the proposed rule chance was passed unanimously!
Please take this as notice for an Extraordinary General Meeting to be held at the East Devon shoot on the 8th March 2009.
The purpose of the EGM is the proposed change to rule 17 of the SWEFTA FT rules as follows;
Existing version;
17) SCORES
No scores gained from competitions shot in the above format will be sent to the national grading secretary for grading purposes.
Proposed version;
17) SCORES
Scores shot for the season by individuals who hold a current BFTA registration card will be sent (by request only) to the BFTA grading secretary for national grading purposes as well as being used for their SWEFTA regional grading. Scores gained by those who are not BFTA card holders will be retained for SWEFTA regional grading purposes only.
The reason for the change is that the current BFTA grading secretary has said that scores will now be accepted for national grading even if the shoots do not comply to BFTA rules.
To have ones scores submitted, the following criteria applies;
1. The shooter has to request that their scores be submitted for national grading.
2. The shooter accepts that ALL the league scores FOR THE YEAR will be submitted, shooters cannot 'select' shoots.
3. The shooter has to hold or have applied for, a current BFTA registration card.
Cards currently cost £3.50, and can be obtained from the BFTA through the shooters home club.
Proof of club insurance has to be supplied if the club does not hold BFTA insurance.
GP7 - East Devon by Charlie Morrison
118 shooters made their way down to East Devon for Round 7 of the BFTA GP Series. A cloudy overcast morning with an increasing breeze for the AM session saw a range of scores with Rob Farnworth, Dave Schofield and the seriously on form John Costello Jr all putting in 48's. Robert Walker made sure of his 1st place with a blazing 47 in A. Not to be outdone by the higher grades Peter Jacob of C grade put in 43 leaving nothing to chance in taking 1st place. |
The delayed SOUTH DEVON shoot has been found a new slot and that will be on SEPTEMBER 12th.
