James Head has received the following e-mail from Rob Meatyard at Dartmoor Marksmen. With regret I wish to announce that Sundays shoot at Dartmoor is cancelled. The weather forecast is for 40+mph winds and heavy rain.
I am currently entering all the shooters names from last weeks SWEFTA competition at Purbeck into the shooting partners spreadsheets and I would like to remind you all of Rule 2 of the Shooting and Grading rules: YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO PARTNER WITH SOMEONE FROM YOUR OWN CLUB. Anyone who does must […]
I have just seen on Facebook that there will be no food available at the Dartmoor shoot this Sunday. There will be tea and coffee and some cake (thank goodness), so please make sure to bring some food with you.
Well, what a difference dry conditions make, for starters we could actually see the courses. I don’t know if any changes had been made since SWEFTA last visit to Purbeck, but the courses were both deceptive and challenging, and as the wind slowly increased throughout the day, they didn’t get any easier. Good to see […]
The format for the Trophy shoot will be 09:00 kick off as usual and the presentations will be at lunchtime (hopefully before the rain). Those that wish to shoot the second course will be able to after that. Forecast shows there might be heavy rain in the afternoon tomorrow, but I doubt it could be […]

The course layout by necessity had not changed since our last visit but the position and sizes of many of the targets certainly had… easier? NO! Enjoyable? Yes indeedy. The weather was kind and […]
The weather this weekend is forecast to be pretty dreadful and so the committee at Dartmoor have postponed this Sunday’s shoot by a week. The Dartmoor shoot will now be Sunday Sept 30th. Please let all your clubmates know.
Well you can always trust the folks at South Dorset to provide something different… no, not the brand new courses built at their brand new ground… the weather! After a summer of Sahara like conditions across the UK, South Dorset provided a monsoon, it is a great shame that more SWEFTA shooters did not choose […]
FT or HFT? Twenty years ago a typical SWEFTA event would have consisted of the main FT course and a selection of ‘side shoots’ such as long range, bell, snooker, and speed shoot, but invariably the most popular was the dump shoot, this consisted of targets, often unusually shaped ones, partially hidden behind […]
Scheduled only one week after the SWEFTA Grand Prix at the same venue, I knew we were in for some excellent course building when we visited East Devon at the weekend, and I was right. Also, thank goodness, the weather was just a touch cooler, so the oven that is the middle of the course […]
