I wasn’t able to attend the third round of the inter club bench rest championship today, so below are two write ups from Paul Salmon and Nigel Palmer.
Paul Salmon wrote: 15 people turned out for round 3 of the DM/WD benchrest competition, and everybody had a thoroughly good time. The early rain didn’t trouble us, but a medium strength gusty wind did keep us on our toes, anyone who failed to constantly monitor the various wind indicators was punished harshly.
Paul Salmon was today’s top scorer with 735:20x, Gary Shuttlewood was second with 729:22x, and in third place was West Devon’s Paul Read with 720:11x.
Gary and Paul both shot a 249 but Gary achieved one more ‘X’, thereby winning the £5 prize for high card of the day.
Lifted from the West Devon FB page: Round three of the inter club benchrest comp was held at West Devon Airgun Club on what was probably as good as conditions as your likely to get. After the early morning showers passed the day just got better and better. The atmosphere in and around the club was brilliant. With 15 competitors taking part, the aroma of cooking bacon, the great selection of cakes on offer and the banter all good ingredients for a great day.
Top overall shot of the day was Paul Salmon with 735 20x, best card of the day went to Gary Shuttlewood with a excellent 249 8x, winning his entry fee back and beating Paul Salmon by just 1x.
Thanks to the visitors for travelling up and bringing cakes too, and special thanks to the home club team for all mucking in and making the day run like clockwork. Finally thanks to Sue for sorting out the food you did a great job, but I couldn’t quite work out what was going on with the binoculars (never realised you were a twitcher) .
The final round will be held Dartmoor on Saturday 12th February 9am start.
Top six scores from today gave Dartmoor 4,277 and West Devon 4,253. This means that Dartmoor lead the championship 12,513 to West Devon’s 12,470, so it is all to play for in the final round.
